OmniTel Namibia (PTY) started its operations on 1 October 2008, resulting from a management buyout of Siemens Enterprise Communications (PTY) Ltd in Namibia. Siemens has been active in Namibia in this market in excess of 40 years. The business was bought as a going concern and all staff accepted employment in the newly formed company.
The company is 100% Namibian owned and 32% shares thereof are held by a previously disadvantaged group. The remainder is held by the management of the company.
The main activities consist of the marketing, Sales, (installation) service of telecommunication (PABX) and related equipment.OmniTel Namibia (PTY) Ltd is the sole approved reseller and Service agent for UNIFY (formerly SiemensEnterprise Communication Systems) and Samsung Communication Systems in Namibia. All Sales and service activities are co-ordinated from the offices in Windhoek. Our customer base stretches virtually over all sectors and we enjoy a particular strong presence in the banking sector, municipalities and government sector.
Sales are done directly to end customers or via established partnerships (i.e. Telecom Namibia) and we estimate our combined market share in Namibia in excess of 80% Customers enjoy an option of either renting the equipment or outright purchase and most customers have entered into a maintenance agreement with us. Apart from complete system solutions, OmniTel also offers cordless telephones and the full range of Fujitsu computers via our warehouse in Windhoek.
A technical team of 15 fully trained technicians install and maintain our equipment and installations countrywide. Furthermore, this department is accredited to offer technical training in the field of UNIFY PABX systems to large customers or partners in Namibia or South Africa.
OmniTel Namibia has been responsible for the installation and maintenance of routers for various Least Cost Routing Service Providers for the past 10 years. As a result of a smart partnership with TN Mobile Namibia we can now offer our clients a “one stop shop solution” providing not only PABX’s and IT solutions but also Least Cost Routing, ensuring our clients benefit from the best service under one roof.
We have two fully qualified teams who are doing structured cabling. We are certified on Molex, 3M, Krone as well as on Cisco routing equipment.
Whatever your structured cabling requirements, we install CAT5, CAT6, CAT7, fibre, racks, patch panels and routing equipment.
OmniTel Namibia will do the design, installation, splicing as well as certified testing for you irrespective of whether it is for a small or a large project. Customers are further assured of continued service and backup by our competent service team
OmniTel is a Registered Reseller of Fujitsu Computer Equipment as well as the only Registered Service Partner providing both in and out of warranty support for this product range. Though not limited to only Fujitsu only we also supply and install other commonly known brands and in addition to this, the team is able to provide network infrastructure and support.
OmniTel Namibia is the distributor and partner of Inala Technologies in Namibia. Inala is a valuable business partner with the world’s leading suppliers of test equipment. Amongst these we include brands like Tektronix, Spectracom, Bird Electronics and Kikusi. Inala further has SANAS (South African Accreditation System) accredited laboratoriesbased in South Africa that are able to repair and calibrate the most technology advanced test equipment in the world. Technology as well as specific equipment training can be offered either on site or in Inala’s established training centres.
During 2009 the OmniTel management re-established a relationship with Messrs ADB Airfield Solutions (PTY) Ltd. This company is internationally recognized as a leading manufacturer and engineering partner for airfield Ground Lighting Solutions (AGL) OmniTel Namibia has been appointed as sole distributor in Namibia for ADB.
All employees are members of a recognized pension fund and enjoy the benefit to join a Medical Aid fund of which the company carries 75% of the monthly contribution. Technical advanced training is vital in our organisation and employees undergo regular training sessions either in Namibia, South Africa or in Europe. Depending on the circumstances, staff may also apply for bursaries to further their studies within their field of work.
